This is the first of a series of three talks that are designed to give you a well-rounded understanding of the world’s fastest-growing religion. 1.6 billion people in the world today are Muslim. This is why it is such an important time to get the facts straight about a faith that is continuously facing public scrutiny.

This talk will center around the birth of Islam, the prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and the basic tenets of the faith. We will cover what Pre-Islamic Arabia was like, how the revelations of Mohammed changed the landscape of the peninsula and why Islam succeeded. You will learn the basic beliefs of a Muslim and the five pillars of the faith. This talk is intended to give you the most basic understanding of the religion as well as the reasons for how it came to be. It will also give you a good grasp on what it means to be a Muslim.

About the speaker: Carrah Q is a Sspiritual trainer, yoga teacher, lipstick aficionado, meditation instructor and religious educator. She holds a master’s degree, with distinction, in philosophy/ecumenics from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and a BA in religious studies from University of Arizona.
