Lynne is the oldest of 4 brothers and sister, all of whom were born on a farm in Alden, Iowa. The oldest of six, she has always been a care-giver and decided to pursue a nursing degree. After graduating cum laude from the Augustana School of Nursing in Sioux Falls South Dakota, she accepted her first job with Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Why Corpus Christi? One, they would let her work in the neonatal intensive care unit immediately and, two, any place was better than Sioux Falls in the winter. Lynne joined Saint Luke’s Hospital in 1985 where she was active in numerous professional committees and worked in the NICU. She also helped set up Saint Luke’s new single family rooms at Saint Luke’s East. She retired briefly to work with her sister in their flower shop, but missed caring for tiny humans and their families. Lynne returned to Saint Lukes to become the manager of the NICU on the Plaza where she currently manages a staff of 110.
