Featured speaker: Darrel Ray, “Religious Trauma and Your Brain”

Religious indoctrination actually has a physical impact on your brain. Darrel will discuss three ways religion impacts us, two of which you have probably never considered or heard about. You will learn about the disgust and attachment systems as well as the limbic system. All combine to make it difficult to leave most religions.

Today’s presentation will be longer than usual, and Dr. Ray will be available for book signing afterward.

About the speaker: Darrel Ray, Ed.D. Is a psychologist and author of several books, including The God Virus: How Religion Infects Our Lives and Culture (IPC Press, 2009) and Sex and God: How Religion Distorts Sexuality (IPC Press 2012). He is founder and president of the international organization Recovering from Religion and The Secular Therapy Project. He has spoken at hundreds of podcasts, conferences and TV and radio programs on the psychological impact of religion on emotional and sexual health and development.
