Featured speaker: Andrew Johnson, “Where the Spirit Meets the Bone: Compassion, Action, and Human Imagination”

Andrew Johnson is a poet, essayist, artist, and author of two books, “The Thread” (2022) and “On Earth As It Is” (2017). His essays and poems have appeared in The Sun, Guernica, Image, Crazyhorse, KC Studio, and elsewhere. He is the recipient of a 2022 ArtsKC Inspiration Grant, as well as a 2022 recipient of a Rocket Grant for his multimedia art project Closure Is Not Justice, which will culminate in September 2023 with an exhibition at Vulpes Bastille in the Crossroads. He is currently a studio resident at Charlotte Street Foundation. He lives in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri with his wife and three kids.
