Featured speaker: Salem Summers, “The Importance of Community”

Salem Summers is a Kansas City native who learned from a young age that activism and art were two things that were very important in his life. Being black and transgender, he has a strong urge to raise awareness on the issues that affect both the P.O.C. and queer communities. He recently began his newest project, Lame Media, an organization that aims to create a space for marginalized artists to freely make work they are passionate about and be able to reach audiences they might not have been able to before. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar at home with his wife and pets.
