Featured speaker: Samantha Pettus, “Journey to a New Life”

Samantha Pettus is a peer specialist who has experienced the unfortunate circumstances of what it’s like to be incarcerated in our nation. She went through drug addiction from an early age, and had many years of the trial of seeking help. She endured 19 months of incarceration in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Upon release she came to Journey to New Life here in Kansas City. After completing the program, she was so moved by everything they helped her to accomplish and the loving community she found that she now works for them as a House Manager. She discovered her purpose in helping other women who have been through similar situations upon reentry from prison back into our society. In her free time, Samantha enjoys expressing herself in many artistic forms. She is a writer, a painter, and a sculpture of wood and stone.
