Period poverty is a critical issue affecting individuals globally, especially those from low-income backgrounds. It refers to the lack of access to sanitary products, menstrual hygiene education and proper sanitation facilities, which hinders the ability of menstruating individuals to manage their periods with dignity and comfort. This leads to significant challenges in health, education and overall well-being. In many places, stigma surrounding menstruation exacerbates the problem, further marginalizing those affected. Join fellow Oasians for a private tour of Elmwood Cemetery, 4900 E. Truman Rd., KCMO 64127. Suggested donation is $10 per person. Paul Benson, treasurer of Elmwood Cemetery Society, will lead us on an hourlong tour where we will visit the gravesites of some famous, infamous and forgotten souls of KC.
